Mending the Nation

In his new release, "Mending the Nation," artist John McNaughton sees a nation in "disarray." The artist wonders what it will take to rebuild America in the wake of our current financial crises, a compromised military, attacks on our constitutional rights and the decline of the moral fabric of our society.

Each family member featured in "Mending the Nation" represents a different value: courage, family, hope, faith and love. McNaughton says those five are the keys to rebuilding America: "Each value is required to make it work. Remove one and the whole system fails."

McNaughton asks:

"What will it take to mend the nation?"

"I think that the American spirit is alive, and if we muster enough courage and commitment, it can be done."

I love this man's work, and wish I could be in the same room with him for even a minute or two, to breathe the rare air he must live in. He is a hero for yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and I hope he is always in a safe place.

To me, he and Beckwith are joined at the heart. Am just mushy for real heroes, or what?

The Empowered Man

There is something simmering deep inside the soul of all Americans. We want to know that we are a free people; that the government acknowledges our individual rights; that fiscal responsibility is an absolute requirement. We want our presidents and politicians to mean what they say when they take the oath of office..."to defend the Constitution of the United States!"

Do we have freedom when half the country pays taxes to support the other half?
Do we have freedom when government regulates every aspect of our lives?
Do we have freedom when our currency is controlled by a corporation that has no accountability to the American people?
Do we have freedom when we have more debt than can possibly be repaid?

The government bureaucracy is to a point where it is no longer worth what the tax payer is required to maintain it. I wonder how many Americans realize they have sold our God given freedoms for a mess of pottage.

I hope everyone will see themselves as the Empowered Man. It makes no difference whether you are a man or woman, how old you are, or the color of your skin. You must decide to no longer be silent, to get off your bench, pick up that Constitution and hold it high in the air as a standard for the world to see. Don't hold back! Don't be silent! You are the future of this nation and without YOU, the American dream will perish.

Wake Up America

We are enslaved to our debt. Wake up, America! Before it is too late...

Every man, woman and child in America is enslaved to the national debt. As an artist, I have painted my vision of the dire circumstances that surround us. Now, more than ever, each American must make a choice: we must unlock the shackles that enslave us, or will we lose our freedom. It is my hope and prayer that America will "wake up" before it is too late.

Those who are familiar with my work know that I like to use symbolism and metaphor to engage the viewer. See if you can find and decipher the many symbols in this image by visiting http://www.jonmcnaughton.com

In the painting I have intentionally hidden six keys that represent solutions that will release us from the chains of economic and political bondage. Find these keys and share them with as many Americans as you can. If we don't "wake up" future generations may not know what it means to be free.

-Jon McNaughton, political artist

Peter V. Milo is reporting that Jon McNaughton, a controversial artist who often mixes religion and politics in his work, has released a new painting.

In In “One Nation Under Socialism,” Barck Obama holds the U.S. Constitution as it burns.  While McNaughton previously depicted Obama stepping on the nation’s founding document, “One Nation Under Socialism” glowers directly as if challenging the viewer.  His right hand is holding the Constitution and his left hand is pointing to the flames.

McNaughton tells CBSDC that the hands “represents his recognition of what is happening (to the Constitution) as it goes up.”

“There are numerous symbols and subtleties in this painting, and I’m not ready to reveal all of them,” McNaughton said.

You may remember McNaugton's "The Forgotten Man."
