Dear Democrats, your America sucks

ObamaHillary.jpg

Scott McKay says to the Democratic Party, and specifically those of you responsible for shaping federal policies over the last seven years and our cultural institutions over a far longer time…

Great job.

You've succeeded beyond your wildest dreams in your efforts to, as the front man for your current operation called it, "fundamentally transform America." It's been seven years with said front man in charge, and those of us not in on your game are staring slack-jawed at what you've made of this country.

When Barack Obama was first running for president, he cited the great Ronald Reagan, the most successful of modern American presidents and the principal hero of today's Republican Party (which is problematic, seeing as though the man has been dead for two decades, but that's a subject for a future column), as his principal role model. Many misunderstood what Obama was saying in promoting Reagan thus; they expected that to mean Obama wanted rapid economic growth, peace through strength, and an eight-year celebratory revival of American culture and society.

As we've seen, that's not what Obama and his fellow travelers had in mind. Rather, Obama wanted to be for the Left what Reagan was for the Right; the embodiment of political strength and leadership demeanor.

In this, Obama has succeeded. Future Democrat presidents will attempt, with futility, to match Obama's policy achievements. None will manage to so forcefully establish his or her party's identity and brand. He is the Reagan of the Democratic Party, and for the next three decades or longer his party will pine for another vessel of Hope and Change such as he.

But if Obama is the epitome of the Left's political dreams, we now know America is no better at socialism than is Greece or Venezuela. In nearly every way imaginable, our society is in deep decline -- and in nearly each of those ways the decline has come thanks to bad leftist policy and persistent leftist cultural aggression.

Was there any more compelling reason for Obama's 2008 election outside of a desire on the part of mostly white America to transcend the racial tensions of the past and exorcise those demons? Where are we now after seven years of Reverend Wright, the New Black Panthers, beer summits, Eric Holder, Trayvon, Ferguson, Baltimore, and Dylann Roof? More Americans believe race is a larger problem after seven years of Obama than disagree. But while there will always be dead-ender white trash like Roof, Obama and his allies have brought the rise of militant anti-white racists, who will be with us for the foreseeable future with their #BlackLivesMatter hashtags and their La Raza agitation.

Our economy? Destroyed. Obama's America prospers haltingly, if at all -- not a surprise given his boast early in his presidency that he would outlaw the business cycle. The Democratic Party formerly seethed at Reagan for his allusions to welfare Cadillacs; now, after seven years of a leftist in the Ovala Office, some 93 million of us don't even bother to seek employment. Our people increasingly think the American Dream is a bad joke, and barely half of us even think capitalism is worth having. The number of businesses extant in America has declined every year since Obama was first elected, and those still alive make a practice of refusing to grow. No wonder that consistent 3-4 percent GDP growth, taken for granted in previous recoveries, now seems fanciful.

Obama continues to boast that America's standing in the world has improved under his watch, but he cannot point to a single concrete example proving that claim. He has all but destroyed NATO, China now emerges as a hegemon in the western Pacific, he admits defeating the rag-tag jihadist caliphate is a "generational" struggle (largely because he refuses to recognize the proper role of guns and bombs in winning a violent ideological argument), under his watch Latin America from Mexico to Ecuador has become a collection of failed and failing states, Africa has devolved into mayhem and murder as the principal front in the global jihad, and he sits powerless by as Iran hurtles toward leadership in a new Middle East nuclear arms race.

Our future? Militarily we're weaker now than we were before World War II began, and Obama seems more interested in sex changes for our soldiers -- giving a new meaning to "private parts" -- than in maintaining our naval strength. That weakness is undoubtedly provocative; just ask Vladimir Putin, Khamenei, and the Chinese. And when the balloon rises, so does the specter of our now $18 trillion national debt. How to finance a coming major war when we're already mortgaged to the hilt? The answer is it can't be done, meaning American weakness is locked in. In fact, thanks to Obama and his fellow social engineers our decline isn't just reflected in geopolitics but on our border. We're being colonized by the Third World, both thanks to our own policies -- see the result of our refugee resettlement efforts in Somali Minneapolis -- and lack thereof. When Donald Trump inartfully raises the question of immigrant criminality above and beyond the initial trespassing he is demonized as a racist, but few bother to ask why America has to accept criminal immigrants at all. That's startling in the wake of the Kate Steinle murder at the San Francisco pier.

Our freedoms? Ask Aaron and Melissa Klein what they think of the state of our civil liberties, after an Oregon judge not only sanctioned the destruction of their wedding cake business but denied them the freedom to discuss their plight. Ask Brendan Eich, the former Mozilla CEO who committed the crime of writing a check to support organizations opposed to gay marriage. Ask any conservative attempting to ply a trade in Hollywood or academia. The Left's cultural fascists have perfected the ability to silence their opposition without the use of jackboots and truncheons as in the past, though as we've seen an angry mob or a riot squad here and there is hardly out of the question. Next up will be the forfeiting of tax exemptions by churches -- unless the Left is willing to make exceptions for those it deems "helpful" to the cause.

Little wonder, given the above, that the American mood is no longer the cheerful optimism of the Reagan years but a morose recognition of perhaps permanent decline.

That's what Obama and his party have on offer. Decline and despondence. And if you're not on his team, he demands that you get your mind right -- as he lights the White House in rainbow colors and lectures Christians on faith and good works.

A few months ago, Scott Walker was embroiled in controversy surrounding former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani's comment at a private fundraiser for the Wisconsin governor that Obama's patriotism was lacking. But patriotism boils down to a love of country and its people. Where is Obama's love for any but his own partisan constituency? Where is that love from any on the Left?

Nowhere. If you're not with them, you're the Other. You're the recipient of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. You will be worn down, demonized and liquidated -- politically or otherwise.

We've known this for some time, of course. We've seen it in Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago, Philadelphia, Newark, New Orleans, Cleveland -- all the cities where urban socialists like Obama and his pals have permanently seized power. Now it's the country at large under their thumbs, and one third of America tells pollsters it's ready to decamp for the national suburb -- wherever that might be.

In short, Obama's America sucks. And it can't continue. Change is coming.

Chicago Democrats celebrate bang-up 4th of July

When a city has seven killings in two days, including the death of a 7-year-old boy, something is systemically wrong.

Chicago4thJuly.jpg

Holly Yan and Leslie Holland are reporting that's what Chicago's police chief said after a spate of bloodshed that tormented the city over the weekend.

"We need to repair a broken system," Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy told reporters Sunday. "Criminals don't feel the repercussions of the justice system."

Take, for example, the death of 7-year-old Amari Brown. McCarthy said the boy was the unintended victim of bullet meant for his father, a ranking gang member.

The system failed Amari, the police chief said. Amari's father, who has been arrested 45 times and has a lengthy criminal record, should not have been on the streets, McCarthy said.

"If Mr. Brown is in custody, his son is alive," McCarthy said.

Even with a 30% increase in the number of police on the streets over the holiday weekend, seven people were killed between Friday morning and Sunday afternoon, the superintendent said -- others said the number was eight dead..

Another 40 people were wounded in weekend shootings, McCarthy said -- newspaper reports have put the number as high as 80.

And since Friday morning, Chicago police have recovered one illegal gun per hour across the city, McCarthy said.

"We must stem the flow of guns into the city," he said. "We have to fix this broken system."

Where #BlackLivesDon'tMatter -- business is booming in plantation Chicago!

Jon Seidel is reporting that according to the feds, a West Side drug dealer had customers lined up around the corner for heroin in the 3700 block of West Grenshaw.

ChicagoDeals.jpg

James Triplett had his customers lined up around the corner in broad daylight, the feds say.

Not for concert tickets. Not for iPhones.

For heroin.

Now 42 people are facing state or federal drug charges for their alleged roles in supplying and distributing heroin around West Grenshaw and Independence in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. Among them is the 33-year-old Triplett, also known as "Trell," who authorities said controlled the drug market in the area.

Investigators even included a photo in a federal criminal complaint spanning more than 200 pages. They said the photo depicts a line of people waiting June 16 to get their hands on heroin supplied by Triplett’s organization in the 3700 block of West Grenshaw.

The photo was taken just south of the Eisenhower Expressway, which has come to be known as "Heroin Highway."

The feds said Triplett’s suppliers sometimes put the heroin in bags with logos that included green Playboy bunnies, Hershey kisses, basketballs, Batman, black pandas or "purple ladies."

Chicago Police and Drug Enforcement Administration agents assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force led the investigation. Sixteen people face federal charges. They include Triplett, who is charged with drug conspiracy and faces a minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted. Another 26 face state charges.

Authorities said they arrested 32 people in all Wednesday morning, confiscating 12 guns, $50,000 in cash, nearly half a kilogram of heroin and more than half a kilogram of cocaine. They also searched several homes, three alleged stash houses and seized two cars, including a 2014 Maserati GranTurismo.

The federal defendants, all of who were in custody Wednesday, began appearing in the afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez.

I'll betcha James takes EBT cards. Just call ahead from your ObamaPhone!

Obama's plan to create "utopian" neighborhoods

utopia.jpg

Courtney Coren is reporting that housing regulations aimed at diversifying wealthy neighborhoods, that some are calling executive overreach for the purpose of establishing a utopia, are expected to be released by the Obama administration this month.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will release the rules with the aim of ending segregation in neighborhoods around the country, The Hill is reporting.

HUD plans to offer grant money to communities willing to build affordable housing within affluent neighborhoods. On the flip side, the federal agency will also give money to poorer neighborhoods to improve those communities through better schools, parks, libraries and grocery stores.

"HUD is working with communities across the country to fulfill the promise of equal opportunity for all," a HUD spokeswoman told The Hill. "The proposed policy seeks to break down barriers to access to opportunity in communities supported by HUD funds."

The regulations are a continuation of a rule made by the Obama administration in 2013, in which HUD started gathering data about diversity in neighborhoods around the country for the purpose of making such policy changes.

The new regulation has its share of critics, especially among conservatives.

Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar, who is working to block the rule, said that the Obama administration "shouldn't be holding hostage grant monies aimed at community improvement based on its unrealistic utopian ideas of what every community should resemble."

"American citizens and communities should be free to choose where they would like to live and not be subject to federal neighborhood engineering at the behest of an overreaching federal government," Gosar told The Hill.

The Heritage Foundation's Hans von Spakovsky said the rule is "too race conscious."

"It's a sign that this administration seems to take race into account on everything," Spakovsky told The Hill.

The plan has plenty of advocates among civil rights groups, who say it will help break down barriers that make upward mobility difficult for those in poor, rundown neighborhoods.

"We have a history of putting affordable housing in poor communities," Debby Goldberg, vice president of the National Fair Housing Alliance, told The Hill.

Advocates hope that the rule will help break down subtle forms of discrimination that exist on the local level.

"In our country, decades of public policies and institutional practices have built deeply segregated and unequal neighborhoods," Margery Turner of the Urban Institute also told The Hill.

"This rule is not about forcing anyone to live anywhere they don't want to. It's really about addressing long-standing practices that prevent people from living where they want to," Turner said.

The Left’s reign of terror continues in Baltimore

Matthew Vadum says while the still-warm corpses of the city's newest murder victims were being processed by authorities yesterday, panelists at the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress in the nation's capital laid the blame for the rising tide of violence in Baltimore on everyone except the perpetrators.

No people of color are responsible for their actions, panelists said or implied. It's society's fault. It's capitalism's fault. It's the fault of "white privilege." There are too many laws. There are too many cops. Corporations are too powerful and they are definitely not people. Campaign finance reform would level the playing field. Things would be better if tax rates were raised. Every left-wing shibboleth and cliche was dusted off and put to use at the agenda-setting think tank founded by John Podesta.

Also discussed was the profoundly racist Black Lives Matter movement that is built on demonstrable lies -- for example, that Michael Brown of Ferguson, Mo., was an innocent gentle giant murdered by a black-hating white cop -- and gross exaggerations about the state of race relations in America (or at least they were hyperbolic before Barack Obama moved into the White House).

The pro-felon brainstorming session was titled, "Toward a More Perfect Union: Bringing Criminal Justice Reform to Our Communities."

Saul Alinsky-inspired slogans like "power perceived is power achieved" flew around the 10th floor conference room at the nearly two-hour seminar that was a smorgasbord of untruths, cant, and intellectual junk food.

Dressed in casual clothing and a baseball cap, the fast-talking, social justice peddling Rev. Heber Brown III of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in North Baltimore, is a master of politically correct pap. The community organizing preacher uses tedious phrases like "building power," "the institutional racism that is manifested in local communities," "moving out of spaces of privilege," and "rendering space to others."

The problem with Baltimore and the rest of America is that "the system" is evil. By "the system," he meant American norms and the nation's free institutions.

The civil disturbances in his hometown happened because "young people in Baltimore said that enough is enough," Brown said emphatically. "No more will we rely on the benevolence of a system that has an appetite for our destruction to decide our destiny. No more."

Stopping crazed, homicidal cops, as opposed to criminals, would be a step in the right direction, Brown argued.

"With this question of how do we improve relationships between the police and the community, stop killing black people. Stop killing brown people. Stop killing trans … stop killing marginalized and oppressed people and let's start right there and continue."

Agitators like Brown are doing what they can to kill Baltimore. When a black person dies at the hands of police, the circumstances don't matter. The death is an opportunity to promote the Left's agenda, and that's what Brown and his ilk do.

The city's ongoing death spiral was set in motion after the suspicious April 19 death in police custody of career criminal Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man with a long arrest record. Since then angry mobs, racial-grievance profiteers, and radical leftist troublemakers have turned Baltimore into a war zone with the official encouragement of Mayor Rawlings-Blake. The mayor infamously admitted after riots began last month that she gave space "to those who wished to destroy."

Helpless Baltimoreans who suffer under some of the nation's most oppressive gun laws are sitting ducks for the criminals whom the mayor has empowered. The residents' civil rights, particularly their Second Amendment rights, have been virtually nullified by a Democrat-dominated city government that regards mob violence as possibly the highest and most legitimate form of political expression.

The Left refers to the general lawlessness now plaguing gore-flecked Baltimore as an "uprising," granting it a kind of undeserved legitimacy, as if it were somehow comparable to the Boston Tea Party in 1773.

But with the brutal murder of 31-year-old Jennifer Jeffrey-Browne and her little son, second-grader Kester "Tony" Browne, who were both found yesterday morning with gunshot wounds to their heads, the homicide count for the city stood at 38 as of last night, the highest monthly figure for Baltimore in 19 years. And the month isn't over yet.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the two resided on a quiet block of row-houses in the city's Uplands neighborhood. Danielle Wilder, Jeffrey-Browne's sister, said "I cannot think of who would want her dead."

Wilder's husband, Seamea Cammue, added, "You gotta be really evil. You gotta have no soul."

Wilder described her sister as a "fun and bubbly" woman and said she last spoke with her the previous morning.

Little "Tony" was a student at Baltimore International Academy, a language-immersion charter school. Principal John Enkiri called the youngster a "gentle soul."

"He's always smiling when you entered" the boy's classroom, Enriki said.

"I was always impressed by his mother's love for him," the schoolmaster added. "He was everything to her. She was everything to him."

The number of non-fatal shootings is also skyrocketing. The figure so far this month is 91.

A befuddled Rawlings-Blake suggested the surge in violent crime was a real head-scratcher. "Examining" the relationship between the jump in murders and the plummeting arrest rate, she said, may throw some light on this impenetrable mystery.

Before Freddie Gray slipped this mortal coil, arrests in Baltimore were down by around 28 percent from the same month in 2014. Arrests are down about 56 percent so far this month compared to May last year, one media outlet reported.

Police booked 2,396 people in the first 19 days of May 2014, compared to a mere 1,045 people in the first 19 days of this month.

Putting on her criminologist cap, the mayor said there are "a lot of reasons why we’re having a surge in violence."

"Other cities that have experienced police officers accused or indicted of crimes, there’s a lot of distrust and a community breakdown," she said, without acknowledging her role as Baltimore's chief cheerleader for the criminal element. "The result is routinely increased violence."

Meanwhile, there are serious doubts whether the police officers implicated in the death of Freddie Gray can receive a fair trial in Baltimore because the petit jury pool there isn't exactly filled with law-and-order enthusiasts.

The six cops in legal jeopardy are charged with offenses ranging from reckless endangerment to second-degree "depraved-heart murder" and manslaughter.

Three of the defendants, Caesar R. Goodson, William G. Porter, and Alicia D. White, are black. The three others, Brian W. Rice, Edward M. Nero, and Garrett E. Miller are white.

From the what-took-them-so-long department, defense lawyers for the six police officers have asked for a change of venue. They argue in an 85-page motion that the cops cannot receive a "fair and impartial trial" in Baltimore — and they are most certainly correct.

They say that not enough time has gone by to allow "the type of healing and reconciliation in the community that would be needed to dampen the effects of the events surrounding the case." The document continues,

Based on the relative size and characteristics of Baltimore City, the prejudicial information that has penetrated every form of online, printed and broadcast media, and the short time between the alleged crimes and the trial(s), the presumption of prejudice prevents the Officers in this case from receiving fair trials.

According to the Sun:

The attorneys also argued that statements by public officials about rooting out police brutality "blurred the line" between an issue affecting the entire Police Department and the six defendants. "The negative and hostile implications toward the department have become inseparably enmeshed with those against the Defendants," they said.

Former judge and Fox News Channel commentator Andrew Napolitano told anchor Megyn Kelly that the cops' lawyers have it right.

"The civil unrest that occurred makes it unlikely the police officers could get a fair trial in the city of Baltimore, even if Mother Teresa were the prosecutor." he said. "But instead you have a prosecutor who acts and sounds like she’s a political candidate for office."

Napolitano was referring to Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby (D). She's the grandstanding prosecutor who in the Freddie Gray saga has invoked the phrase "no justice, no peace," the battle cry of leftist rabble and racial arsonists hellbent on destruction that Americans became familiar with during the Los Angeles riots of 1992. Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz has accused Mosby of "overcharging" the police officers to placate the rioters. Charging a defendant with an excessively serious crime makes it more likely the jury will acquit and when that happens there will be more riots, he said.

"It is clear there has to be a change of venue, meaning the trial has to be tried in another part of the state of Maryland and the jurors have to be drawn from that other part of the state," Napolitano said. "The question is: can she fairly administer justice?"

Kelly added, "If it gets moved to another county, she is still the prosecutor, but she appears to be a problem. I mean, schooled and learned lawyers … are coming out using the word ‘disbarment’ for this type of behavior when it comes to a D.A."

Unlike many talking heads, Kelly knows what she's talking about. Before entering the world of TV news, Kelly practiced law for nine years at white-shoe law firm Jones Day in Washington, D.C., and was an associate at Bickel & Brewer LLP in Chicago. She was also editor of her law school's law review.

The defense lawyers for the police officers also point out that there is a movement afoot to register young males to vote "so they can get on the jury to convict the officers."

"It will be impossible to ferret out the bias and resentment of those prospective jury members who choose to hide their deeply held prejudices to get onto the jury," they argued.

It is unclear who started this movement in Baltimore to pack juries. A month ago black commentator Roland Martin of TV One proposed stuffing juries with activists in order to guarantee that police officers are exposed to the wrath of the lynch mob. "You can't try a police officer on a jury if you're not registered to vote," he said.

Martin urged pastors to encourage their African-American flocks to register to vote so they could get into jury pools. "But not just that, but you have to actually vote and once you vote for somebody you have to hold them accountable as well," he said.

Whatever eventually happens to the accused police officers in court, Baltimore's future looks bleak.

It is difficult to estimate how much the city will miss out on in terms of forgone future taxes and overall economic impact. Investors are unlikely to flock to Baltimore given that its government refuses to protect private property, one of its most basic obligations.

And U.S. taxpayers are going to be stuck with the bill for the mayor's bad behavior and the crime wave it helped to exacerbate.

The city is applying for federal aid to cover expenses incurred in the riots that Rawlings-Blake encouraged. City officials say they want $20 million in direct costs to cover expenses such as equipment purchases, for example, tear gas and riot gear, and for street cleaning.

But that's just the beginning of what local, state, and federal taxpayers will pay for Rawlings-Blake's appalling malfeasance and fiscal blame-shifting.

The mayor is urging the more than 380 businesses damaged during the riots to seek loans and grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Baltimore Development Corp., a public-private agency that promotes business development by issuing tax credits and offering debt instruments for sale to investors.

Maryland's governor, Larry Hogan (R), is also seeking reimbursement for the state's costs related to the riots. Of course, unlike Rawlings-Blake, who is the best friend a looter could ever have, Hogan did not make things worse by colluding with rioters and criminal gangs such as the Bloods, Crips, and Black Guerrilla Army. The governor did both his own job and the mayor's job, restoring order to the city by activating the Maryland National Guard.

Now if only Gov. Hogan could dissolve the Baltimore City government for failing to perform even the most rudimentary of governmental functions and impose a state-run control board on the city.

Maybe then Baltimore might actually have a chance of bouncing back.

49 people shot in Chicago since Friday

Peter Nickeas is reporting that gunfire erupted outside a South Shore homicide scene early Monday morning, leaving the 49th person shot since Friday afternoon bleeding from abdomen and leg wounds about 100 yards from where a man was found shot to death with a gun in his hand hours earlier.

The gunfire sent mourners, who had gathered at the crime scene near 78th Street and South Shore avenues close to where the man was killed, scattering into the neighborhood as a couple of them screamed.

A sergeant at the scene called in the gunfire and police drew their guns while trying to light up a vacant lot next to the homicide scene that the gunfire echoed through.

The latest shootings bring the total to at least 49 people shot, two of them fatally, since Friday afternoon in Chicago. Twenty-two people were shot Friday night into early Saturday and another 18 were shot late Saturday morning into Sunday.

Aside from the three men shot in the South Shore neighborhood early Monday morning, six others were wounded on the South Side.

Let's improve Detroit by making it a war zone

DMartyr says only a progressive would think settle more impoverished, illiterate people into a decaying city would improve it. Brought to you by the leftist wackos at The New York Times:

Detroit, a once great city, has become an urban vacuum. Its population has fallen to around 700,000 from nearly 1.9 million in 1950. The city is estimated to have more than 70,000 abandoned buildings and 90,000 vacant lots. Meanwhile, desperate Syrians, victims of an unfathomable civil war, are fleeing to neighboring countries, with some 1.8 million in Turkey and 600,000 in Jordan.

Suppose these two social and humanitarian disasters were conjoined to produce something positive.

Improving Detroit by importing competing factions from a war zone. What could possibly go wrong?

Democrat cities are the most segregated

John Dodge is reporting that Chicago is the most segregated city in the United States, while also being one of the most diverse, according to a new analysis of U.S. Census Data.

How can that be possible?

Because "diversity" and "segregation" are two different things, when you look at them from a city-wide level and then the neighborhood level, writes Nate Silver, the founder and editor of the Five Thirty Eight blog.

"Chicago deserves its reputation as a segregated city," Silver writes. "But it is also an extremely diverse city. And the difference between those terms -- which are often misused and misunderstood–says a lot about how millions of American city dwellers live."

Diverse1.jpg

In the above chart, Silver measured is the citywide diversity index: What percent of the people belong to a different racial group? Chicago ranks as the seventh-most diverse city in the United States.

At the same time, the city is very segregated by neighborhood, where many areas on the South and West sides are overwhelmingly black. Other neighborhoods within those areas are largely Hispanic. That results in the city's high segregation index. Overall, the city is divided almost equally into three parts: Hispanic, African-American and whites.

Diverse2.jpg

Chicago is not alone when it comes be being highly diverse and segregated. Silver's analysis looks well beyond the qualities of the city, which you can read more about here.

Baltimore's self-immolation -- Democrats, you built that

Steve Berman says nothing sharpens the focus on the Unbridgeable Crevice separating th*g (the word "thug" is now banned) apologists on the far left from those of us who use words because they mean something than Baltimore's self-immolation.

It's really a tale of two cities, depending on who's telling the tale.

The borderline-Jacobins at Slate, who believe spanking is child abuse, and personal responsibility is out of fashion, try to explain looting away as a social phenomenon: "Why would anyone burn down the only CVS in their neighborhood?"

The reason, I think, is likely the same reason that poor black Americans in cities across the country burned "their own" neighborhoods in the late 1960s: They did not experience those places as their own. Then, like now, police brutality was a precipitating cause of the violence, but it was the long-term experience of the indignities of the ghetto that gave shape to the riots. Then, like now, commentators compared the rioters to animals who had run wild and needed discipline. Rioting, to these bystanders, was not proper political protest but the criminal actions of poor people who merely wanted to grab what they could for free. This narrative, which I heard throughout my childhood growing up in Baltimore in the 1980s, put the blame not on the depredations of the ghetto, but on the character of its residents. It completely misapprehends the political economy of our poorest neighborhoods.

In other words:  they riot because society has ignored them.  Not only is that a specious argument, but it also highlights the fact that Baltimore hasn't had a Republican mayor since 1968.  So which party is responsible for ignoring the downtrodden social class?

Told another way, Abraham Miller at National Review wrote:

Because riots in our time tend to occur in poor black neighborhoods, we associate characteristics of black poverty with riots. Yet, before the 1960s, most rioters were white, and when blacks were involved, they tended to be victims rather than participants.

Many 19th-century riots were the actions of white middle-class or stable white working-class populations. Yet, social scientists have not proposed that the demographic characteristics of being white or economically stable led people to riot. Every riot has a precipitating event, something that results in anger turning to aggression. The mysterious death of Freddie Gray, a young black man, who succumbed while in police custody, was such an event. The reaction to it had the potential to turn into a riot. But it did not in and of itself turn into a riot. Riots, like all forms of political and social violence, require mobilization, and mobilization requires leadership. Spontaneity is one of the great myths about social events.

Both the Left and Right agree on the precipitating event, but the Left holds onto the inevitability of riots, like natural disasters -- a 100 year flood, a 20 year earthquake, a 10 year hurricane, and a 5 year riot.  It just happens.  So let it happen.

The Left blames unemployment, lack of transportation, and payday loan businesses for wanton destruction.  Sure, having a ready supply of unemployed teens looking for trouble does tend to multiply the chances of hooliganism, but it doesn't make the resulting riot inevitable.

On the 1600 block of North Avenue, where a police van held Freddie Gray on the night he was arrested, the storefront of payday lender Ace Cash Express advertises "PAY BILLS. CHECKS CASHED." Last year, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau denounced Ace Express' payday lending, which "used false threats, intimidation, and harassing calls to bully payday borrowers into a cycle of debt … drain[ing] millions of dollars from cash-strapped consumers who had few options to fight back." The looters who broke into Ace this week might well have been there before, as customers. They might also have been customers at Cash USA, a pawn shop at 2105 West Pratt Street that went up in flames this week, and which, like Ace, advertises its check cashing services. When Baltimoreans looted and burned payday lenders, check-cashing operations, and pawn shops this week, it was not just a chance to get money, it was chance to get back some of their money.

Louis Hyman, the writer, italicized their money, suggesting that payday loan companies have somehow stolen money from their patrons.  First of all, 6 percent of all payday loans default -- for every $10,000 the companies loan, two weeks at a time, of the company's money, they lose $600.  Plus, they have to pay their staff to complete all the paperwork for each loan, which costs, say $10 per loan.  So for 50 loans of $200, it's already cost the company $1,100, and they haven't even received a penny.  To just break even, they have to charge at least $32 per loan -- yes that's 16% and they haven't even made a profit yet.

But the looters are just avengers of social justice to the Left, because "the poor" never use their EBT cards for drugs, or cigarettes, or booze, or strip clubs.  So Baltimore's leftist leaders just let them riot, loot and destroy other people's property.  Like that will stop the riots.

But we know what stops riots, Miller points out.

When it comes to riots in America, pundits bring out the Kerner Commission Report, citing its highly questionable material on root causes while always seeming to ignore those parts of the report that noted that the use of quick, decisive force ends riots.

This, obviously, brings us to the tactic enunciated by Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake: "It's a very delicate balancing act, because while we try to make sure that [the rioters] were protected from the cars and other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well." This, of course, was the same tactic used in Ferguson by Missouri governor Jay Nixon, which permitted rioters to destroy small businesses in downtown Ferguson without opposition.

This brings us full circle, because the ineffective, corrupt and Democrat-run Baltimore Police Department is as unable to apply tactical and effective force to end a riot as the city's mayor is able to order it.  Both are complicit in the destruction, and six officers, who likely are asking "what did I do wrong?" because they did their jobs the same way every day, are being sacrificed on the altar of inevitability.

Ending the cycle of poverty certainly will make rioting less likely, as Slate concludes: " In the months ahead, we must remember that it will be not enough to stop police brutality -- we need to provide better economic opportunities as well if we want to improve the lives of Baltimore's poor."

But bowing to the inevitability of riots, along with looting, murder, and destruction, does nothing but encourage th*gs to be thuggish.  Miller concludes:

We now give those who wish to destroy space to do so, and we thus throw gasoline on the already incendiary nature of riots. It is not politically acceptable to use decisive force against young, black, male thugs. It is acceptable to let them burn poor families out of their homes, attack fire trucks, and throw bricks at police. Welcome to politically correct America, a society that will incinerate itself on the altar of political correctness.

Obama said "you didn't build that," to American entrepreneurs and industrialists. Baltimore's incineration cries out to Obama and the leftist party of slavery, eugenics, and abortion -- you built that!

How Democrat-run cities face "death by a thousand paper ballot cuts"

Shannon Grady says recently, the Washington Post ran a story about how the racial and economic disparity of Baltimore could be clearly seen with the use of a map showing the lines of segregation in the city. The article included the following description of the colorful map:

"The two maps below offer a striking look at the two Baltimore's, one affluent and predominately white, the other impoverished and largely black."

Now, if that didn't effectively put the blame on racism, as the culprit behind the current woes in Baltimore, the line at the end of the article puts the final nail in that coffin.

The writer, Christopher Ingraham, laments about the plight of the poor black men in Baltimore:

"As those men have been taken away or killed -- or both, in Freddie Gray's case -- they've left empty houses to be boarded up and empty shoes that may never be filled."

Clearly, we are supposed to have our heart strings plucked here and our anger embers stoked to a roaring flame of vitriol towards those dirty rotten white, elitist, wealthy, racist, people who caused this calamity.

However, let's really take a look at the root cause of all this economic disparity. After all, shouldn't we find out who has been in charge and hold them accountable for letting this city and others like it slip into such decline? Baltimore is located in the state of Maryland. Since 1969 Maryland has elected and had a Democrat governor for 42 of the 46 years in question. The current Governor is a Democrat.

What about the Mayors of Baltimore, aren't they really the ones who are supposed to fix the city they are elected to govern?

Since 1967, to the present, a full 48 years, Baltimore has had not one single Mayor who was not a member of the Democrat Party.

Every Mayor of the city has been, without exception, a Democrat, who promised to fix the damage done by the evil, old, racist white men…in the GOP. Of course, they fail to point out that not one GOP candidate has made it into office so that the blame could even be theirs.

Let's look at another city in economic decline, Detroit, Michigan. If we look back at who has been in charge of this once great economic center of the car industry, what do we find? Since 1962, every single Mayor elected to the city of Detroit has been a Democrat. How about St. Louis, a city ranked in the top 5 most dangerous U.S. cities? Since 1949, every single Mayor of St. Louis has been a Democrat. Another city on the list of most dangerous was Cleveland, Ohio which in the last 73 years, since 1942, has had a Democrat Mayor in 59 of those 73 years. The last GOP mayor in Cleveland was over 26 years ago. I could continue, but I think the pattern is patently clear.

Ghetto.jpg

So, why do the folks, who vote at the ballot box continue to elect a Party with such a long history of failures? Thousands of ballots have been cast in election after election and all those elected have accomplished is to slowly kill the city they were supposed to have restored to some former glory. That is what I call, Death by a thousand paper cuts…ballot paper cuts. However, please continue to tell us, how the problems in cities like Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, and St. Louis, are the fault of the angry, racist, white men of the GOP.

Do black lives matter in Chicago?

The final results for the month of March are in for the Democrat-controlled utopia of Chicago -- the city with the most Draconian gun laws in the country -- and they aren't good. There were almost seven shootings every day in March, and more than one homicide every day.

ChicagoMarch1.jpg

ChicagoMarch2.jpg

But the big news coming out of Obama's home town is about the final heated debate in the Chicago mayoral race between Obama's ex-chief-of-staff, incumbent Rahm Emanuel, and challenger Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia.

The two men clashed Tuesday on everything, from Emanuel's stewardship of the city's finances to noise caused by planes using O'Hare International Airport.

Neither man mentioned the war going on in their city.

The Democrat's Utopia -- the Chicago public schools circle the drain

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Chicago Public School system is facing a catastrophic penalty as a result of decades of borderline criminal Democrat fiscal mismanagement.

[zz7b5f7b2d%5B1%5D]Chicago's deep financial problems worsened Friday as a Wall Street bond-rating agency dramatically downgraded the credit of the city's school system -- triggering penalties that could come to more than $200 million.

...Chicago Public Schools are required to maintain a certain credit rating under the terms of complex debt "swap" deals with financial institutions. Failure to do so could activate termination clauses in the deals and CPS could have to make payments to the financial institutions.

Friday's report from Fitch means CPS has dropped below the threshold for terminating the deals. According to Fitch, CPS could be forced to pay $263 million in penalties as a result...

...Even after closing a record number of schools, cutting administrative costs and raising property taxes, CPS has projected a budget deficit of more than $1 billion for the coming school year.

Interestingly, the Chicago Democrat machine is being torn asunder by the conflict between the unions and city leaders like Rahm Emanuel. Union leadership continues to fleece taxpayers while insisting that their unsustainable retirement benefits can be maintained. Emanuel, faced with these mathematical impossibilities, is suggesting that the unions must be reined in. Pass the popcorn.

The rocky relations between the mayor -- who appoints the school board -- and the Chicago Teachers Union haven't improved since the strike. And the teachers' current contract can end June 15. CTU is heavily backing challenger Jesus "Chuy" Garcia in an effort to unseat Emanuel in the April 7 runoff election... Garcia said the Fitch downgrade "is the latest example of the consequences of Mayor Emanuel's fiscal mismanagement."

Barbara Byrd-Bennett, Emanuel's chief executive for CPS, said: "It is not a secret that Chicago Public Schools has long faced serious fiscal challenges that are primarily driven by a broken pension system -- something the recent downgrades cite as the most critical issue that simply must be addressed to maintain CPS' fiscal stability. Without reforms, CPS will be forced to decide between funding the pensions of retirees and funding the education of its students."

Broadcaster Stephen A. Smith received a lot of attention a few days ago for suggesting that Blacks should vote Republican in at least one election to send a message to both parties.

I suggest that such a movement would do well to start in Chicago, where the infernal alliance of the Democrat Party and teachers unions have conspired to destroy the urban educational system, sentencing generations of minority children to poverty.

Save this link -- he's got all the stats.

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that two men were killed and at least 12 other people were injured in a spate gun violence across Chicago -- the city with the most draconian gun laws in the country -- from Wednesday morning through early Thursday.

The most recent fatal shooting happened about 2 a.m. Thursday at an Austin neighborhood gas station on the West Side.

A 20-year-old man was outside the station in the 100 block of South Cicero when someone walked up and shot him multiple times, police said.

He was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived and was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His identity was withheld pending family notification.

About an hour-and-a-half earlier, a 43-year-old man was found shot to death on a Chatham neighborhood sidewalk on the South Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 12:30 a.m. found Juan Warrior unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the side of the chest in the 8100 block of South Normal, authorities said. Warrior, of the 6500 block of South Wolcott, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:49 a.m.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened just before midnight in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

A 23-year-old man was sitting in a parked car in the 700 block of South Kostner when someone walked up and shot him in the leg, police said. A relative drove him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

About a half-hour before that, a 21-year-old man was shot multiple times in the South Side Grand Boulevard neighborhood. The shooting happened at 11:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of South Indiana, police said. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center and later transferred to Mount Sinai, where his condition was stabilized.

In the North Side Edgewater neighborhood, a 25-year-old man was shot about 11 p.m. Someone walked up to him in the 5700 block of North Kenmore and shot him multiple times, police said. His condition was stabilized at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

At 10 p.m., a 21-year-old woman was outside in the 8600 block of South Carpenter when she heard shots and felt pain. She suffered a graze wound to her side and was treated at the scene and released, police said.

Just before 9 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in the arm while driving in the 4400 block of West Walton in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said. He was listed in good condition at Mount Sinai.

About 8 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in the 8000 block of South Carpenter in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, police said. He suffered gunshot wounds to his arm, hand and groin and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.

Minutes earlier, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. About 7:50 p.m. he was sitting in a vehicle in the 4700 block of West Ohio when someone walked up and shot him in the leg, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.

About 6:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the leg and chest in the 300 block of South Homan in East Garfield Park. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

Another man, 20, was shot in the leg in the Washington Park neighborhood about 5 p.m. That shooting happened  in the 5700 block of South Michigan and taken to a hospital in good condition, police said.

Ten minutes before that, a 25-year-old man was shot in the 4500 block of North Clarendon in the Uptown neighborhood. He was in good condition at Illinois Masonic.

About 4:15 p.m., a 17-year-old girl was shot in the chest in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said. She was shot in the 1300 block of West 111th Street and taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition.

The day’s first shooting was reported about 10:30 a.m.

A man walked into Saint Bernard Hospital at 326 W. 64th Street with gunshot wounds to his hip and back, police said. He told investigators he was shot in the 6300 block of South Artesian, but no crime scene was found.

Twenty shot in Chicago in one day!

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that five people were killed and at least 15 other people were wounded since early Sunday afternoon during separate shootings across the city, authorities said.

In the latest shooting, two men were killed and one was injured around 3:10 a.m. Monday following a fight in a club in the 2200 block of North Ashland Avenue in the Bucktown neighborhood on the North Side, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

Elijah Moore, 41, was shot in the chest and Deonte Jackson, 34, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The details are here . . .

The total since Friday is 34 -- and it's not even summer yet -- hell, it's still winter.

Check out all of the amazing stats produced by "HeyJackass!"

One wonders when the loopy denizens of Cook County will finally have had enough and flush the Democrats who have methodically destroyed the state, piece by piece, like a biblical storm of locusts.

Well, at least they're not boxcars -- yet!

Jeff Karoub is reporting that an unusual home taking shape inside General Motors' sprawling Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant is intended to be part of a movement to rebuild the Democrat-controlled city's economy and deteriorating, disappearing housing stock.

Skilled-trades workers, taking breaks from their tasks at the factory that produces the electric Chevrolet Volt and other vehicles, dart in and out to do door, window and wall installation and framing, as well as electrical and plumbing work. Meanwhile, a nonprofit urban farming group is preparing property a few miles away that will welcome the project, what's believed to be the city's first occupied shipping container homestead.

Come spring, the house-in-progress will be delivered to Detroit's North End neighborhood and secured on a foundation where a blighted home once stood. After finishing touches and final inspections, the 40-foot-long former container will feature 320 square feet of living space with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen, and will serve as home base for a university-student caretakers of a neighborhood farm and agricultural research activities.

One shipping container home won't turn around Detroit's housing woes. The city emerging from bankruptcy has roughly 40,000 vacant homes waiting to be demolished. But it's a start and, organizers hope, a model to lure and keep residents as Detroit removes blight and recovers from bankruptcy.

For its part, the automaker met with Tyson Gersh of the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative and others from the farming group a couple years ago, and the container home idea immediately resonated. GM spokesman David Darovitz said it fits with the company's goals of reducing landfill waste while boosting reuse and recycling of materials. For instance, the home's front door had been discarded by the plant and was salvaged on its way to the landfill.

"I loved the creative idea of taking and reusing an old shipping container and giving new life," Darovitz said. "It can be used as a model for a bigger idea that's structurally sound."

Both GM and the nonprofit see the potential to grow the idea and are exploring ways to continue, but first they must finish a process that's faced many challenges, including the long wait for the existing home on the lot to default into tax auction and finding a functional sewer line.

Another roadblock to building more storage container homes is figuring out how to price them. Now, Darovitz said, there is nothing to assess them against, since neighboring lots often are blighted or vacant.

Still, those involved aren't deterred and view the effort as a microcosm of the kind needed to rejuvenate Detroit. They take inspiration from how city, state and federal officials forged deals with financial institutions and lassoed philanthropic organizations to save pensions and city-owned artwork and get through bankruptcy.

"That is Detroit -- that's what's happening," Gersh said. "It takes a village to make a functional city."

Detroit's "FutureCity" -- no rent -- but you're obligated to vote "Democrat."

Aggressive raccoons terrorize Harlem

CBS New York is reporting that West Harlem residents say a posse of raccoons has taken over their neighborhoods and in some cases even broken into their homes.

"These things think they live here and they actually walk in if you leave an opening," said resident Lauren Flanigan.

Pictures from residents showed a raccoon making itself comfortable on the patio of a West Harlem home, and even coming up to the door. And that raccoon was not alone, residents said.

"They came in the kitchen, and they're not that friendly, and they also pushed the window screens in," Flanigan told CBS2's Tracee Carrasco.

"They climb over the fences to the next backyard and they keep going from backyard to backyard, so that's why it's not one homeowner's problem. It's everybody's problem," Maria Freeman said.

Residents complained that the raccoons wreak havoc in the streets daily, and believe they make the trek from Central Park. They want the city to do something because the problem is only getting worse.

"These raccoons don't behave normally. They're out during the day time when they should be sleeping. They are not afraid of humans. They're aggressive," Flanigan said.

Residents are now asking the city to step in and pay for a trap-and-release service to get rid of the raccoons before mating season starts in January.

In a statement the city said they are "staunchly committed to addressing all constituent requests from New Yorkers across the five boroughs, including animal related complaints and inquiries."

Residents say help can't come soon enough.

The good news is that Harlem residents are no longer complaining about the rats.

Ferguson and Obama's no-responsibility America

Keith Koffler says it's easy to talk about the can-do American spirit. Everyone thinks of themselves as part of an America where people haul themselves up by their bootstraps, become self-made men and women, succeed despite the odds, and several other cliches.

What is being forgotten, in Barack Obama's no-responsibility America, is that these things take really, really hard work, sacrifice, and risk. Obama is doing a splendid job of erasing the basic American spirit and character. He's telling us, for example . . .

. . . to immigrate the easy way, the illegal way, and not go through the hoops necessary for legal immigration;

. . . that we don't have to work for our health insurance. It will be provided by the gradually diminishing percentage of the population willing to work, through their tax dollars;

. . . that we don't have to pay our debts, which are headed toward $18 trillion;

. . . that we can wallow on welfare as long as we please.

And so on.

Today, the message is being delivered again. Instead of a colloquy on how black communities can change so that the violence in their neighborhoods is reduced, Obama has several meetings devoted to the topic of how we can restrain police trying to maintain order.

I believe racist policing is a problem. I believe it is next to nothing in comparison to the problem of the degradation of communities where three quarters of the babies are born out of wedlock and boys lack fathers and a cohesive family structure to put them on the right path. Racist policing is not where Obama's focus needs to be.

I empathize with law-abiding African America males who feel fear and whose first instinct is to be ready with the phrase, "I didn't do anything" when they notice a white police officer looking at them. Who can't catch a cab because the driver thinks they're going to murder them.

The solution is not reeducation campaigns for taxi drivers. It has to come from within the black community.

Obama had a chance to lead on this issue. Instead, today, he is talking about what type of weaponry police have, discussing ways to build bridges between the communities and the police, and meeting with "young local and national civil rights leaders."

I know a good way to build bridges between the police and the people who live on their beats. Give the police more time for their donuts and coffee, and less time making arrests.

National Review's Rich Lowry Sunday practically caused a Meet the Press panel of Democrats to release the contents of their bowels with a simple, yet obvious statement about Ferguson: "If you look at the most credible evidence, the lessons are really basic: Don't rob a convenience store, don't fight a policeman when he stops you and try to take his gun, and when he tells at you to stop with his gun drawn, just stop."

But that would mean taking responsibility for one's actions.

This is priceless!

WJBK reporter Charlie LeDuff paid a visit to the home where a transvestite ex-con Lynn Williams -- real name Arthur Williams -- had been living for weeks, while real owner Stacey Hamilton had been unable to remove Williams from her home.

LeDuff turned the tables on Williams, trying to out-squat the squatter in what at first seemed like just a gag.

But LeDuff was very serious. He met with Hamilton and her attorney prior to going to the home, so he could get the keys and the proper paperwork to enter it. He called police to let them know what was going on, then showed up to confront Williams in front of the camera.

The hilarious visit turned into a full exposure of the con-wo/man Williams, including his criminal record and illegal electrical hookup that saw him stealing power from his neighbors while illegally stealing a home.

Things quickly went South for Williams as the deft reporter LeDuff accomplished what owner Hamilton and her attorney had struggled for weeks to achieve.

And it was priceless.

This is Liberalism on trial

Ian Hanchett is reporting that columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that the 2014 election "is a referendum on Obama's hyperliberalism" and "liberalism on trial" on Monday's "Kelly File" on the Fox News Channel.

"This is a referendum on Obama's hyperliberalism. In 2010 it was sort of aspirational. It was on legislation but it hadn't been enacted yet. Well, now we are six years in and we see the results of Obamacare. We see the results of the stimulus, the worst recovery since the Second World War. We see the results of this kind of overreaching government, which at the same time is incompetent…and this isn't only the party in government. This is the party of government. This is liberalism on trial" he declared.

Krauthammer also argued that attempts to downplay the meaning of the popularity of Barack Obama are evidence that Democrats will not do well, stating "I can assure you that if the Democrats pull off a miracle and do well tomorrow night, Josh Earnest is going to be up there on the podium on Wednesday saying 'of course this was a national referendum on Obama and Obamunism.' You say it isn't if you know you're going to lose."

He also remarked "the Republicans have run a fairly gaffe-free campaign. the gaffes have been on the other side, particularly this sort of overreach in the war on women which has become almost a joke in a place like Colorado [and Louisiana]…it's becoming sort of a joke, and remember in the past it was Republicans who made the gaffes on the women's issue[s]."

Krauthammer concluded that one reason Republicans aren't running away with more races is the fact that "they're running against particularly good and pedigreed Democrats. There are names, Begich in Alaska, Landrieu in Louisiana, Pryor in Arkansas. Udall is running in Colorado. And of course, in Georgia you've got Sam Nunn's daughter and Jimmy Carter's grandson. These are fairly good candidates, and the name carries a lot of weight."

Obama's Utopia -- or 14 reasons he's lying when he claims the world is "more stable" and "less violent" than ever

Michael Snyder says with a straight face, Barack Obama has been repeatedly telling us that the world is "more stable" and "less violent" than ever.  In fact, he believes that this is the best time in history to be alive because of how peaceful and stable everything is.  And of course Obama is more than happy to take credit for his role in bringing all of this "stability" about.  Just this week, his press secretary told the media that this administration has "substantially improved" the "tranquility of the global community."  Apparently these guys don't think that we will notice all of the violence, war and terrorism constantly raging all around us.  It would be wonderful if the planet actually was becoming a more peaceful place, but instead the exact opposite is happening.  The world is becoming increasingly unstable, and if we aren't really careful we could see World War III break out before too long. But if you listen to Obama, he makes it sound like we are living in an emerging global utopia.  The following is an excerpt from remarks that he made during a White House event in June...

[T]he truth of the matter is that for all the challenges we face, all the problems that we have, if you had to be -- if you had to choose any moment to be born in human history, not knowing what your position was going to be, who you were going to be, you’d choose this time. The world is less violent than it has ever been. It is healthier than it has ever been. It is more tolerant than it has ever been. It is better fed then it’s ever been. It is more educated than it’s ever been.

And as I mentioned above, a similar statement was made by White House press secretary Josh Earnest on Monday...

"I think that there have been a number of situations in which you’ve seen this administration intervene in a meaningful way, that has substantially furthered American interests and substantially improved the, uh, you know, the -- the tranquility of the global community."

In addition, this video has Obama declaring that the world is "more stable" than it was in the five previous years during a speech to the United Nations last year:

It would be great if all of this stuff was actually true, but I think that at this point not even Obama believes half the things that are coming out of his mouth.  He has told hundreds of boldfaced lies while he has been in the White House and before, and the following are 14 reasons why Obama is lying when he claims that the world is "more stable" and "less violent" than ever...

#1 The downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 has brought Ukraine and Russia even closer to the brink of war.  The government in Kiev is blaming Russia and Russia is blaming the government in Kiev.  But Barack Obama does not seem too concerned about it.  During a speech on Thursday, he spent a mere 40 seconds addressing the downing of the plane before he began a 16 minute speech in which he told numerous jokes.

#2 If it wasn't for revolutionary Ukrainian groups funded by George Soros and the U.S. government (among others), the Ukrainian government may never have been violently overthrown and there might not have been a civil war in Ukraine at all.

#3 Relations between the United States and Russia are the worst that they have been since the end of the Cold War, and the economic sanctions that Obama just slapped on Russia are not going to help matters any.

#4 Israel has just launched a major ground offensive in Gaza, and many fear that a full-blown regional war in the Middle East could erupt at any moment.

#5 The civil war in Syria has been raging for several years now.  Thanks to the United States and Saudi Arabia, those seeking to bring down the Syrian government are very well armed.

#6 The civil war in Iraq continues to get even worse.  ISIS has already captured vast stretches of Iraqi territory and they are using American weapons to do it.

#7 The Kurds claim that ISIS is now using chemical weapons against them.  If this is true, it is really, really troubling news.

#8 The Iraqi government has told the United Nations that ISIS was able to steal 88 pounds of uranium from Mosul University.  Some experts are concerned that they may be able to use this material to create a dirty bomb (or worse).

#9 Barack Obama told us that we were "liberating" Libya, but instead we just transformed it into a war-torn wasteland that is constantly being fought over by warring militia groups.  Just this week, one of those militia groups launched a devastating attack on the main airport in Tripoli.  And the horrible fighting in Libya has spilled over into other nearby countries in North Africa such as Mali.

#10 Relations between the United States and Germany are at the lowest point that they have been since the end of World War II.  German Chancellor Angela Merkel was so furious when one U.S. spy was discovered recently that she expelled the top U.S. intelligence official from the country.  But Germany is far from alone.  The truth is that most of the rest of the world is sick and tired of our "Big Brother" behavior.

#11 Islamic terror group Boko Haram continues to cause havoc all over Nigeria.  The following is from a news report about an incident that happened earlier this week...

Suspected members of the deadly Boko Haram Islamic sect on Monday attacked Dille village in Borno State, killed 45 people and torched several houses and shops and forced many people to flee into nearby hills for safety. The terrorists, it was gathered, came in a convoy of over 20 vehicles and motorcycles. According to one of the villagers, Njimtiku Papka, who spoke to journalists in Maiduguri on the phone, the terrorists on arriving the village started shooting indiscriminately at everyone in sight.

#12 The ongoing civil war in the Central African Republic has forced hundreds of thousands of people out of their homes.

#13 There is horrible fighting going on inside Somalia right now...

A fierce and violent conflict erupted on the outskirts of Qoryoley district in Lower Shabelle between joint African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops and Somali National Army soldiers (SNA) against Al-Shabaab. The terrorist insurgents attacked an SNA and AMISOM military sitting in the town just outside Qoryoley when the battle initiated. Locals have reported to Shabelle that the fight also affected towns in the district like Maanyo Mudug, Farhanle and Abdi Ali.

#14 Things are not even stable in North America.  Horrific gang violence and warring between drug cartels in Central America and Mexico has been one of the factors that has caused millions of illegal immigrants to come pouring toward the United States.  Today, Honduras has the highest murder rate on the entire planet, and the Mexican drug war has claimed more than 120,000 lives since 2006.

Of course this is just a partial list.  The truth is that there are dozens of other conflicts that are happening all over the globe right now that could be added to this list.

So what would you add to this list?

Chipotle: A burrito made by slaves?

Zo doesn't get his burritos from Chipotle, he prefers Del Taco...but he is worried about the people who do. They’re supporting a Liberal utopian ideal.
